Set on a small private estate overlooking sandy Praia Grande beach, this charming villa offers tranquil Atlantic Ocean views, with the large furnished terrace the perfect place to watch the sun set with a glass of wine, or over dinner from the barbeque.


The gardens lead down to the private pool with 10x4 metres (0,8 to 1,2 metres deep) with roman steps and patio area, with a gentle stroll a little further through the gardens taking you to the beach, accessed by a gate. Formerly a beekeeper’s cottage, the house has been completely refurbished into a modern and contemporary one-level beach villa. Well-equipped, with beach-chic interiors, the property is decorated in neutral colours throughout, with fun pops of colour.

The open plan living area with dining table and kitchen leads out to a terrace through glass doors. The living area has a lovely fireplace, and the property also has air conditioning for warmer days. There is an en-suite double bedroom and two twin bedrooms sharing a shower room. The shower rooms are finished to an extremely high standard. On the ground floor there is as well a utility room.

This is an ideal property for family beach holidays, or for those wanting to play golf on one of the area’s many courses. The charming waterside village of Ferragudo, with its shops and restaurants, is only a short walk along the beach, and the larger town of Portimão is just 6km away from the property.

The rental price includes pool towels, a welcome pack and 2 hours maid service 4 days a week, including Saturdays and except bank holidays. The changeover day is Saturday. There is a baby cot and a baby highchair, available on request and free of charge.

During the months of November and December the changeover day is flexible and the minimum stay is for 3 nights. The check in time is after 3pm and the check-out time is until 10am

There are some unprotected drops from various terraces and around the swimming pool - young children need to be supervised at all times.

The pool was newly constructed in 2016 so the gardens are not mature yet.

Solar Real - 9 Bedroom Holiday Solar to rent in Portimão - Algarve

Solar Real translates into English as the House of the Princess and remains in the ownership of the Portuguese Royal family. Located on the Western side of the Algarve, the house is perched on the cliffs of Ferragudo. It faces West over the bay of Lagos and towards Sagres and the setting sun. The view is of the peaceful waters of the Algarve coast and yachts making their way from the marinas and of fishing boats passing in front of the house.

Across the wide estuary is a distant view along Praia da Rocha beach that is well known to the many visitors to the Algarve region of Portugal.

Solar Real has been completely refurbished and updated to modern standards, including internet WI-FI access.
There are 9 bedrooms, all with en suite bathrooms, sleeping 19 persons and spread over three floors of the building.
The house’s original furniture has been restored, and the bedrooms have been refurbished in a more modern style but retain the original beds, which incorporate the family coat of arms.
Outside there are extensive terraces and a swimming pool overlooking the sea. A downstairs bar and toilet are available at the pool which also has a poolside shower.


The accommodation comprises:

On the ground floor:
Main drawing room overlooking the terrace and with a sea view that boasts a beautiful grand piano.
Entrance hall and guest cloakroom. Double doors leading to a private chapel.
Formal dining room seating 8 persons at the main table, and a further 8-10 persons on two additional circular tables.
Breakfast room - which is usually used for children’s meals.
The terrace has a retractable sun awning and tables for outside eating for 16 people.
Music room with a CD player and comfortable chairs.
Kitchen: recently modernized.
Two double bedrooms with en suite shower/bathrooms. Sea views and doors leading out to the terraces.

Swimming pool with 12,5 x 5 metres. The maximum depth is 1,40m. It has built-in steps at the shallow end.

Lift: the house has a lift which can be switched on upon arrival and departure (luggage) and switched off during clients’ stay, for safety reasons (children).
Smoking: The owners of the house are non-smokers and it is suggested that those wanting to smoke use the outside terraces and balconies.

There is resident staff; a housekeeper and a gardner that look after the house on weekdays.
The housekeeper can prepare simple dinners upon request and an extra payment for her time.
Central heating: the house has central heating for winter use.
Pool heating: solar heating available at an extra charge.

The rental price includes cleaning service 5 days a week, during week days and excluding bank holidays. Linen is changed every 7 days and towels are changed twice a week.
